5 Positive Things I Learned About Fear

What is this feeling called “Fear”? How does it help us? When does it appear? Where do we feel it inside our bodies? Probably the most important question is, how can we benefit from such a terrible feeling?

Fear is that kind of feeling that we usually try to avoid at all costs. What it’s even funnier about it is that we are fearing fear.

Those of us who lived through some fearful events can agree that once we go through these scary experiences, we realize that the mental images were far worse than the actual event itself.

Fear Definition

Fear is the primal feeling born in our limbic system generated by the amygdala. Amygdala is this part of our brain responsible for processing emotions and memories associated with fear. Our limbic system was born hundreds of thousands of years ago and it’s specifically designed to keep us safe. It was very important at that time to react quickly, to the so-called “Fight or flight” scene.

Typical physical symptoms are sweaty hands and an increased heart rate.
